What’s Happening – September 9

We have our final Domain triple header of the 2017 season tomorrow, with the three senior men’s teams set to host visitors from Taupo, Te Puke and Hamilton. Our first prizegiving of the season takes place in the morning when our Mini-Kickers group winds things up. We’ve had a dedicated from of 4 to 7 year olds who have enjoyed their football in 2017. If it’s wet we’ll just move inside the clubrooms and proceed...

Ladies finish excellent season with another win

The Challenge Matamata Swifts Ladies team have finished their 2017 football season with yet another victory. The team’s 3-2 win against Waikato Unicol in Hamilton on Sunday completed an excellent year of football for a team that was unexpectedly promoted to the Waikato’s top flight a week before the season started. The Ladies took several weeks to get going but after their first win in May went on a long unbeaten run that included a...

Swifts score important home win

Comag Matamata Swifts seem to be getting back in the groove after an important 5-3 victory over Tauranga Old Blues on Saturday. The Swifts lost three league games during late-May and June, but the turn of the month has led to an upswing in form, with two consecutive wins over tricky opposition. Saturday’s game began with a rush. Leading scorer, Chris Walker, lifted the ball home to give the Swifts a 6th minute lead, before the...
