Calling all girls!
In association with WaiBOP Football Federation, we’ll be hosting a Girls Only Football Tournament at the Matamata Domain on Friday March 2 as part of the New Zealand-wide Girl’s and Women’s Football Week promotion.
Primary schools are encouraged to enter teams in the two age groups available – Year 5/6 & Year 3/4. Smaller schools could look to join together to field teams. As 2018 is a FIFA World Cup year, once teams have been entered they’ll be allocated a country, which they’ll represent on the day (and they can dress up in their country’s colours).
This is a great opportunity for girls to give football a go…and have some fun while they’re at it. We’ll have prizes for the best dressed and loudest teams on the day, along with plenty of other giveaways!
This tournament should start to be promoted through the local primary schools within the next few days.
Tournament Details
- When: Friday March 2, 2018, from 9.30am to 12.30pm
- Where: Matamata Domain
- Registration: Schools to confirm team entries to Scott Parsonage (scott.p@waibop.co.nz) by February 23.
- Entry: Free.
- For: Year 3/4 & Year 5/6 teams. Teams of up 8 players with 5 on the field at any one time.
