The management committee of Matamata Swifts AFC is pleased to announce that Paul Richardson has accepted the position of Reserve Team Coach for the 2015 season.

Paul has extensive coaching experience in his native England and has also coached at a local level in New Zealand. He is looking forward to building a competitive reserve team as the club looks to return to Waikato Bay of Plenty Federation League Division 2.

“I consider this a high profile role and am committed and passionate that we as a reserve unit will strengthen the first team but also be highly competitive at our own level,” Paul explained upon receiving news of his appointment. “I have a good working relationship with Chris [Powell – Swifts 1st team coach] based on mutual respect even though we are very different coaches. What we have in common is our passion for the game and a fierce drive to succeed.”

Paul moves into the role after being a mainstay of the 2014 Swifts reserves. He also played 7 times for the 1st team during the recently completed season.
